Adnams Distribution Centre
Regarded as Britain’s Greenest Warehouse
The Adnams Brewery distribution centre building was designed to minimise environmental impact and to show the clients’ commitment to sustainability. It includes numerous sustainable construction techniques including the rainwater harvested from the sedum roof being used to flush toilets and to wash goods vehicles.
A design which blends the building into the natural landscape with minimum visual impact sedum roof; it contains the longest ‘Glulam’ beams ever installed in the UK. Chalk, lime and hemp wall construction with lime render. Photovoltaic energy used to heat water. Rainwater harvesting for flushing WCs and cleaning vehicles. Insulation and temperature control is so good that no mechanical plant is needed – even in summer – to keep the beer cool.
